03/07 - ANNOUNCING THE DEBUT ALBUM FROM CHRISTOPHER TIN! Calling All Dawns is the working title for Christopher's debut album, due to be released in the fall of 2007. The concept album is a collection of 12 songs in 12 different languages that tell a modern-day myth about life, death and rebirth. Building off the immense popularity of his hit song 'Baba Yetu,' Calling All Dawns draws from a number of literary sources--Japanese haiku, Maori proverbs, Persian poetry, the Torah, Catholic hymns, and many others--to form a rough narrative about the universality of human belief. The album will be recorded at Sir George Martin's AIR Studios in London with the London Studio Orchestra, as well as a special 60-piece international choir formed specifically for the project, a wealth of ethnic percussion, and a collection of international soloists. 03/07 - WINNER! Christopher has been awarded two prizes by the Game Audio Network Guild, the foremost organization for audio and music in the video game industry. He was given the GANG award for Best Original Vocal Song - Choral for his much-celebrated theme to Civilization IV, 'Baba Yetu.' Additionally, he was given the 2006 Rookie Of The Year award for being the best newcomer to the video game industry.

11/06 - Christopher's offbeat branding work for athletic apparel giant Puma continues with a pair of seasonal spots featuring Asian superstar Michelle Yeoh, as she does battle with a trio of ninjas. The score is best described as "Chemical Brothers meets taiko drums," and brings their partnership to a total of 19 national spots.

10/06 - Kind Of A Blur, the quirky short film starring Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh, is now available on the iTunes Store.

09/06 - Muso, a British classical music magazine, has published an article on composing for choirs featuring an interview with Christopher. Weighing in on the topic of choral writing in film music, he states: "You can't beat an orchestra for range, but there are sounds a chorus can make that are simply impossible from an orchestra." The article features two paragraphs (and a color photo!) of Christopher's ruminations on the history of the voice in Western music, as well as Prokofiev's monumental choral score for Eisenstein's Ivan The Terrible.

09/06 - 'Baba Yetu' is receiving its world-premiere at the Hollywood Bowl on September 21st, 2006. The acclaimed song has been added to the Video Games Live concert tour, with planned performances in New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney, and other major cities around the world. The concert features the best in video game music, both classic and contemporary, performed by a live orchestra and choir.

04/06 - Christopher has scored The Insatiable for writer-directors Chuck Konzelman and Cary Soloman. The film stars Sean Patrick Flanery, Charlotte Ayanna and Michael Biehn, and the score is an eclectic mixture of gypsy violin solos, FM synthesizers and romantic piano solos. The closing credits can be heard on the samples page. And two more reviews for 'Baba Yetu' have come in: "No game's opening musical score has ever captured my attention like this one" (GamingExcellence). "Musically Civ IV stands out, with original pieces like the main theme rubbing shoulders with Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Indeed the main theme has a haunting quality that fits the mood of the title screen fully" (Silicon-Fusion.com).

02/06 - 'Baba Yetu' and the rest of the Civilization IV score has been honored with a Gamespy Honorable Mention for Best Music 2005: "The main theme from the hit sequel is a unique 'World Fusion' kind of sound, part African Drums, part chanting, part orchestral, that really calls to mind the epic sweep of the title." More reviews have come in: "The intro music, for starters, is particularly great" (ToTheGame). "I don't know when I've enjoyed in-game music more, especially the introductory music" (Gamezone). "I can't say enough about the excellent soundtrack" (Matt Slagle, Associated Press). "The theme from the main menu (Baba Yetu) is the piece de resistance - I liked it so much that I listened to it for days on end" (computergames.ro).

01/06 - The holidays have brought an interesting assortment of projects: first, a documentary for Marco Williams for the History Channel, as part of their upcoming '10 Days That Unexpectedly Changed America' series. Entitled 'Freedom Summer', the film examines the 1964 slayings of three civil rights workers as a watershed moment in the civil rights movement. Secondly, Christopher has begun work on The Secret History of the Hmong, a documentary for three-time Academy Award-nominated director Deborah Dickson. And finally, Christopher is writing additional music for the animated film Sharkbait, voiced by Rob Schneider, Andy Dick, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Evan Rachel Wood.

10/05 - The reviews are pouring in, and Christopher's title track to Civilization IV, 'Baba Yetu,' continues to garner attention. Amped IGO writes: "The title track is an awesome, up-beat song that is definitely the highlight of the soundtrack..." Meanwhile, Eurogamer declares "It even has great music on the start scene, which sounds just like something from The Lion King yet - somehow - awesome." An ActionTrip review lavishes praise on the whole soundtrack, saying that it is "one of the most soothing, fulfilling and fitting I have heard in a video game yet." And even the negative reviews of the game still had something positive to say about the music; a reviewer from the Chicago Maroon, who blasted the game because he was unable to get past the starting screen, said "At least the music really rocked." Other past projects are getting reviewed as well; the French magazine Cinefonia published an article on The Origins Of Stitch, in which is declared "Christopher Tin created a remarkable work in the expression of the most extreme and most subtle of emotions."

10/05 - The much-anticipated Civilization IV has been released, and early reviews have singled out the music for praise. Yahoo Games states "Special mention goes to the music, which is shockingly good." IGN writes "...the music really steals the show. From the opening choral piece to the subtle nation-specific diplomacy music, the entire score of the game lends a strong sense of culture and feeling...amazing." And Gamespot declares "Civ IV also presents itself well with a distinctive title-screen track..." The featured tracks that Christopher wrote ('Baba Yetu' and 'Coronation') are now available for listening and download on the samples page.
